GORHAM, Maine - Freshman Krista Ledin (Bridgewater, MA) scored three goals and senior Kristin Mulry (Holbrook, MA) recorded her 100th career point as the University of Massachusetts Boston Beacons defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies, 4-0, in a Little East Conference women's soccer match Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.
The win was the third in the last four matches for the Beacons, and improved their record to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference. The Huskies dropped their fifth straight match to slide to 2-8 overall and 0-3 in LEC games.

In her four seasons with the Beacons, Mulry has tallied 47 career goals and 8 career assists (102 points). Her record setting mark came in the 49th minute on an unassisted play.
Ledin’s hat trick was the second of the season for the freshman forward. She broke the scoreless tie in the 11th minute off an assist from senior Brie Cavanaugh (Belchertown, Mass.) and the 20th minute converting a pass from sophomore Sam Cristoforo (Rockland, Mass.) to give her side a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Ledin put the final touch on her hat trick scoring off an assist from Mulry in the 81st minute. Ledin leads the Beacons scoring parade with 10 goals and 21 points on the season.
Goalkeeper Dani Perkins (Murrieta, CA) collected her fifth shutout of the season stopping all four USM shots. Southern Maine senior goalie Kat Rothe finished the game with nine saves. The Beacons held a decisive edge on the stats sheet, out shooting USM 17-4 and earning a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks.
