Greenspan Collects LEC Pitcher of the Week Award

ROCKY HILL, Conn.—For the second time in three weeks and fifth time in her career, Jess Greenspan (Rocky Hill, Conn.) has been named the Little East Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Greenspan led the Beacons to their first-ever conference sweep over Keene State College on Saturday. The junior righty threw 13.1 of the 15 innings and allowed just nine hits, three walks and two earned runs during that span. She also struck out five batters.

On Thursday, Greenspan set the program record for career appearances by a Beacons pitcher with her 80th time in the circle.

Greenspan improved to 4-2 in Little East Conference play and saw her earned run average fall to 2.08 over 40.1 total innings. She needs just four strikeouts to set the program record for career strikeouts (254) this upcoming week.

UMass Boston will host Salem State University on Thursday at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., before traveling to take on Rhode Island College in conference play on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m.
