ARDAGNA TO COACH US SELECT SOFTBALL TEAM IN THE NETHERLANDS

BOSTON, MA - University of Massachusetts Boston softball coach Natalia Ardagna (Revere, MA) has been selected to coach a team of top softball players from all Divisions throughout the United States, representing the United States of America Athletes International team. Ardagna's squad will be comprised of some of the top NCAA Division I, II and III players as well as junior college and NAIA athletes from all over the nation. The team will compete against various European national teams in the 19th Annual Oldenzaal Run '71 Invitational and will play games in Oldenzaal, The Netherlands from June 16-20 during its nine-day stay. While in The Netherlands, the USAAI softball team will also take in the sights and experience Dutch culture. Ardagna led UMass Boston to its greatest season ever, setting a school record for overall wins with a 21-18 mark and a school standard for conference victories with a 5-9 record in Little East Conference play. The Beacons also shattered school records for batting average (.332), runs (242), hits (363), triples (19), total bases (469), complete games (35), innings pitched (240 1/3), pitching strikeouts (168), putouts (672) and fielding assists (342). The Revere, MA native is UMass Boston's all-time leader in wins with 39. |
