BOSTON, Mass. – Looking to build off of their Thursday victory over Eastern Nazarene College, women's tennis hosted UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon in a Little East Conference match. Unfortunately the visiting Corsairs defeated the Beacons by the final of 9-0 to remain undefeated in conference play.
With the loss UMass Boston fell to 2-5, 0-3 in the conference, while UMass Dartmouth improved to 6-0, 2-0 in the Little East.
In doubles play Hieu Nguyen (Dorchester, Mass.) and Samantha Counts (Bridgewater, Mass.) dropped an 8-2 decision at first doubles. Solveig Castelli (Precojo, France) and Stephony Reeves (Dorchester, Mass.) also dropped their doubles match by the same score as well.
Moving into singles play Counts found herself in a close match, but it was Dartmouth's Hanna Schulze who pulled out the victory. Imani Williams (Roxbury, Mass.) also gave her Corsair opponent a run for her money, but in the end it was Allison Furtado who walked away with the win.
Women's Tennis returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Western Connecticut State for a 4 p.m. Little East Conference match.
