WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO CASTLETON STATE, 7-2

WARREN, VT - The University of Massachusetts Boston women's tennis team fell to host Castleton State College, 7-2, Saturday afternoon in Warren, VT. The Beacons fall to 1-1 on the season while the Spartans improve to 1-1 overall.
UMass Boston freshman Destanee Ringler (Scituate, MA) earned her second consecutive singles victory out of the number two slot, defeating junior Kate Bucci (Wakefield, RI), 6-2, 61. The other Beacon point came from senior Brittany Engel (Freehold, NJ) who earned a 6-0, 7-6, (7-5) win over freshman Marina Francy (Lake Worth, FL). The Beacons were in every other match on the day but the end result favored the Spartans in a contest that could have gone either way.
UMass Boston will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 when it hosts Lyndon State University at Boston College High School in a 2:00 PM match.
