BOSTON, MA - The University of Massachusetts Boston women's tennis team was defeated by visiting Bridgewater State College, 8-1, today in a Little East Conference match played on the Boston College High School courts. The Beacons fall to 2-3 overall and 0-3 in LEC play, while the Bears improve to 4-0 and 3-0.
Junior Emily Johnson (Saugus, MA) took UMB's only point of the match at first singles when she won the first set 6-4, before falling in the second 6-2, but rebounded in the third, 10-6 to defeat Rachel Elman to improve to 4-1 in singles play, including 2-0 at number one.
UMass Boston will be in action again on Friday, September 26 when it travels to Cambridge, MA to compete in the ITA New England Regionals hosted at MIT, while Bridgewater State travels to Worcester, MA on September 22 to play Worcester State College in a match to be played on the campus of WPI at 3:30 p.m.
