WOMEN'S TENNIS COMPETES AT NCAA DIVISION III WILSON/ITA NEW ENGLAND REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The University of Massachusetts Boston women's tennis team competed in singles and doubles play today at the NCAA Division III Wilson/ITA Women's New England Region Championships in Cambridge, MA on the campus of host Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

UMass Boston junior Carolina Gonzalez (Bridgewater, MA) was defeated Babson College's Jes Huang, 6-1, 6-2 in the singles draw, while Beacons junior Emily Johnson (Saugus, MA) was beaten by Jennifer Lavet of Tufts University, 6-0, 6-0.

The pair teamed up vs. Tufts University's Julia Browne and Meghan McCooey in the doubles draw, but were beaten 8-0.

UMass Boston will be in action on Tuesday, September 30 when it travels to Providence, RI to take on Little East Conference foe Rhode Island College at 3:30 p.m.
