BOSTON, Mass. - For the first time in over 20 years, UMass Boston will be represented at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championship meet as sophomore sprinter Hulerie McGuffie (Lynn, Mass.) was selected to make the trip to Lincoln, Nebraska with the meet scheduled to begin this Friday at the Bob Devaney Center Track on the campus of Nebraska Wesleyan University.
The Lynn native has an opportunity to become the first female to be named a two-time All-American since the Beacons dominating run since the 1980's. She is set to compete in both the 200 and 400 meter dashes this weekend. The preliminary round for both events will run on at 3:05 p.m. (400) and 5:05 p.m. (200). If she does qualify for the finals those will take place on Saturday at 2:45 and 4:15 p.m. respectively.
This season, McGuffie has been sensational on the track dominating both events. She enters this year's championship with qualifying times of 25.18 seconds in the 200 meter dash and 56.11 in the 400 meter dash.
