No. 3 Women’s Track and Field Compete at First New England Meet

MEDFORD, Mass. – In their first meet in New England, the third-ranked women's track and field team competed at the Tufts University Snowflake Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Annie Appolon had a busy day in her New England opener as she recorded a ninth-place finish in the long jump (16-03.00), while in the 200-meter dash she posted a time of 27.45 seconds.  Gesheca Boswell earned a 10th place finish overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.66 seconds, while Paulina Vo finished with a time of 14.02 seconds.

Abigail Jean-Baptiste posted a final time of 28.26 seconds at the regional meet, while Katie Olson tripped the sensor with a time of 17.60 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.  Patricia Mulinge and Adrianno Fredo led the way for the Beacons distance runners with their times of 5:28.26 and 5:36.98 respectively.

Lauren Olton finished Saturday's meet with a height of 4-06.75 feet in the high jump.  Samantha Myrtil finished the hammer throw with a toss of 92-10 feet, while in the javelin throw she finished with a final distance of 93-04 feet.

The lone Beacon not competing at Tufts this weekend was All-American Wadeline Jonathas (Gonaives, Haiti), who instead competed at the University of Florida Pepsi Florida Relays.  The reigning Division III champion in the 400-meter dash earned a 9th place finish with a time of 53.18 seconds, as she took on some of the top Division I sprinters in the country.
