Women’s Track and Field Competes At Little East Indoor Championship

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – At the 2019 Little East Conference/New England Alliance Championship meet the women's track and field team finished in eighth place after earning a combined 4.5 points at ALLWell North Track and Field facility at Plymouth State University.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Olivia Burnes and Lauren Olton each recorded a team-best finish of sixth in the individual events, while the 4x200-meter relay team earned the best overall finish for the Beacons at Saturday's championship.

Burnes earned a sixth place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.47, which stands as her fastest time of the year.  For Olton she posted a height of 4-11.00 feet in the high jump, which just like Burnes marked a season-best for the junior.

The 4x200-meter relay team of Burnes, Krystal Alvarez, Nana Anane, and Annie Appolon finished with a combined time of 1:53.43 to take the top-5 finish. 

In the 60-meter dash, Appolon posted a time of 8.42 seconds in the prelims, while Burnes registered a time of 8.57 seconds.  The duo would qualify for the finals and finished amongst the top-13 sprinters in event. 

Anane earned a 10th place finish in the 200-meter dash with her time of 30.25 seconds.  Brianna Steele earned her first top-10 finish at a conference championship in the 600-meter run with a final time of 1:50.14.

The 60-meter hurdles saw both Katie Olson and Alanna Olton qualify for the finals after recording prelim times of 10.47 and 10.54 seconds respectively.

Appolon posted a final distance of 15-09.75 feet to finish in eighth place in the long jump.

The Beacons will be back in action next Friday and Saturday at the NCAA Division III New England Championship meet, which will be hosted at Bowdoin College.
