Eric Ashe joined the UMass Boston coaching staff after five years of competing at Division I Boston University. From 2006-2011, Ashe was a two-year captain, three-time MVP for cross-country and an America East Conference champion in the 3,000 meter Steeplechase. He also led the cross-country team to a team conference championship in 2010. He now serves as a volunteer assistant for both of BU's track and field and cross country teams.
Ashe's primary responsibility with the Beacons is working with the team's distance runners and also serves as the assistant cross country coach.
In June of 2013, Ashe began working with the Greater Boston Running Company based out of Newton, MA. He currently serves as the running store sales associate and running coach. Amongst his responsibilities is meet with technical representatives to expand product knowledge. Ashe also educates customers on appropriate product features and designs. He also plans special events to promote the brand and coached beginner runners in preparation for the 5K road race.
At Whitman-Hanson Regional High School in Whitman, Massachusetts, Ashe was a captain of the cross-country and track teams and was runner-up in the State Championship Mile, as a senior.
Originally from Hanson, Massachusetts, Ashe graduated from Boston University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and in 2012 with a Master of Criminal Justice.
Coach Ashe has completed the Level 1 course for USA track and Field.
