GORHAM, Maine – Led by a match-high 24 assists from senior Megan Pollock (Wilton, Calif.) volleyball remain undefeated in Little East Conference play as the cruised to a 3-0 win over the Huskies of the University of Southern Maine Tuesday evening at Hill Gymnasium.
With Tuesday's victory the Beacons even their record at 9-9, while remaining in first place in the LEC with a 3-0 record. For the Huskies they fell to 16-5, 0-3 in the conference.
Pollock fueled the Beacons offense which hit an impressive .338 in the three game victory. In the first game UMB scored seven kills to take a 25-14 win. In the second 15 kills fueled the Beacons 25-19 victory, while in the final game UMass scored 10 kills and hit .571 to take the 25-15 decision.
On the night freshman Julia Murphy (Canton, Mass.) hit a career best .800 after scoring eight kills on 10 attempts. After her it was junior middle Kirsten Morrison (North Reading, Mass.) with five kills.
As a squad the Beacon scored 12 aces, with two belonging to Pollock and freshman Kimie Teketa (Torrance, Calif.). Defensively UMB finished with just 18 digs respectively and five total blocks to earn the victory.
The Beacons return to action on Friday when they host Trinity College (Conn.) at 6 p.m.
