Shannon Desmond rejoins the Beacons' staff for her third seasonon the sidelines this fall.

Desmond is no stranger to the court having played four years ofvarsity volleyball in college at two very competitive NCAA DivisionIII institutions. The former libero competed at Western ConnecticutState University for two seasons before transferring to BridgewaterSate College for her final two years of eligibility.

A captain at Bridgewater State, Desmond helped lead the Bears toback-to-back MASCAC championships, two NCAA tournament births andnever lost a conference game, going 12-0 in her two seasons at BSC.The standout was selected to the All-Tournament Team at the 2005Halloween Classic at Springfield College.

At Western Connecticut State, Desmond had stellar freshman andsophomore campaigns, earning Little East Conference honors bothyears. Following her rookie season in 2003, Desmond was selected tothe LEC All-Conference Second Team and was also named the ColonialsRookie of the Year. In 2004, she was named the LEC Defensive Playerof the Year, selected to the LEC All-Conference First Team andnamed the WSCU team MVP.

Desmond graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in SocialWork from Bridgewater State College in 2008 and is currentlyworking in the counseling office at the North River School inRockland, MA.
