NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass – Freshman Kirsten Morrison (North Reading, MA) wasted little time earning her first Little East Conference weekly honor, as the 6’0” middle hitter was named the Volleyball Rookie of the Week, by the conference office Monday afternoon.
In the first six matches of her collegiate career, Morrison helped the 22nd ranked Beacons to a 4-2 record overall. Through the first six matches, Morrison led the team with a .371 hitting percentage and ranked fourth in kills per set with 1.90 (40 kills). Over the weekend, she paced the Beacons to a 4-0 mark at the Endicott College Invitational, and recorded her first 10 kill match in the 3-0 win over Schreiner University (TX).
On Saturday Morrison combined for 13 kills on 28 attempts, while only surrendering two assists in the 3-1 win over Salve Regina, and 3-0 win over 2010 NCAA Division III New England Regional tournament participant Middlebury College.
Volleyball will begin their run for a third conference championship this Saturday when they travel to Eastern Connecticut State University for a 1 p.m. match.
