BOSTON, Mass. – Led by Xhulio Uruci (Newton, MA) and Jake Kerin (Quincy, MA), the University of Massachusetts Boston cross-country team placed 16th out of 26 teams at the 44th Annual Codfish Bowl in Franklin Park.
Uruci paced the Beacons with 104th place finish and time of 28:48. Winning the men's 8K race was Boston University's Rich Peters with his final time of 25:11. Bates College (ME) won the team title after tallying 49 points. All seven runners completed Saturday's no worse than 24th place.
For Kerin, he closed out Saturday's meet with a time of 29:02 to earn 114th place. Tad Delaney (Halifax, MA) was the next Beacon to cross the finish line. His time of 29:46 earned him 142nd place overall.
Grant Schackelford (Manteca, CA) posted a time of 31:29 to finish in 199th place, while Ming Wang (Ying Kou, China) finished Saturday's meet in 245th place with his time of 33:59. Jeff Laurore (Malden, MA) and Paul McEuen, Jr. (Westmont, IL) closed out the Codfish Bowl in 270th (36:34) and 279th (39:02) place respectively.
Cross-country will next compete in the Greater Boston Track Club Cross Country Invitational. The meet is scheduled for next Saturday at Bradley Palmer State Park in Topsfield, MA.
