BOSTON, Mass. – The men's and women's cross country teams returned to action as they competed in the 45th and 33rd annual Codfish Bowl Races Saturday afternoon at the historic Franklin Park trails.
The men's team recorded an overall team finish of 10th, while the women's team saw just three Beacons compete in Saturday's meet.
For the women's squad Angelica Pizzi (Milton, Mass.) once again led UMB with a 58th place finish and a time of 21:39. Ari Leao (New Bedford, Mass.) notched the second fastest time for the Beacons as she crossed the line with a time of 23:41 (95th). Ashley Glendye (Middleboro, Mass.) was the third runner for the Beacons and she posted a final time of 26:25 to earn 113th place.
The men's squad was led by senior Jake Kerin (Quincy, Mass.) whose time of 28:18 earned him a 58th place finish overall. Right behind him was Tad Delaney as he posted a time of 28:58 to earn 68th place.
From there it was Chhenlee Ly (Leominster, Mass.) who recorded a time of 33:48 to earn 116th place, while Joe Miller (Hull, Mass.) earned a time of 34:06 to take 120th place overall. Ron Esquivel (Guatemala) closed out the day for UMB with his time of 35:33 to take 124th place.
The Beacons return to action on October 12 when they compete at the NEICAAA at Franklin Park. The women's race will begin at 11:45 a.m. followed the men at 12:30 p.m.
