BOSTON, Mass. – Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases throughout the Boston area, Director of Athletics and Recreation Jacqueline Schuman has announced an update to the spectator policy for all UMass Boston home indoor athletic events.
Effective immediately, home indoor athletic events (currently ice hockey and basketball events) will be closed to fans on the campus of UMass Boston until January 31. This updated policy will be revisited throughout the coming weeks by the Department of Athletics and Recreation in coordination with the university's review of the situation.
"The health and wellbeing of our campus community, student-athletes, coaches and administrators are my highest priority. My hope is that this policy will help keep everyone safe, as we continue to monitor this fluid situation. We will revisit this policy as more information becomes available," added Schuman.
