BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Boston Department of Athletics has announced that former UMass Boston lacrosse player Brian Baharian ’97 will be inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame as a member of the 2014 class.
One of the most gifted midfielders in program history, Baharian will be one of seven new members to be honored this October in the university’s annual ceremony.
A two-year member of the lacrosse program, Baharian forever left his mark, recording 116 career points for the Beacons. Named a Pilgrim League Southeast Division and All-New England honoree in 1996, he was also selected to compete in the prestigious USILA North/South All-Star game.
Currently ranked in the top-15 in program history in points in a career, Baharian closed out his final season with an impressive 35 assists. His five goals in a single quarter, which he recorded on May 6, 1995 against Division II American International College, sits second most all-time.
After just two short seasons, Baharian sits in the top-15 in career assists with 47. His 12 man-up goals in 1995 have him sitting third on the all-time single season list. During his two seasons at UMass Boston, Baharian helped the Beacons to a combined 20-7 overall record under former head coach Myles Berry.
The 2014 UMass Boston Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled to take place in the Catherine Forbes Clark Convocation and Recreation Center on Thursday, October 9, at 5:30 p.m. For more information about this year’s Hall of Fame ceremony, please contact Ellen Hart-Noone at email@example.com or call 617-287-7801.
