Fred DeFrance will be entering his fifth season coaching in the college ranks, his first with the Beacons. Before joining the Beacons’ staff, Fred first broke into collegiate coaching with the Fairleigh Dickinson University Devils of Madison and spent the previous three seasons with the Ramapo College of New Jersey Roadrunners. In his tenure at Ramapo College, DeFrance was part of a coaching staff that helped lead the Roadrunners to three seasons of 25+ wins, including a 35-15 record in the 2018 season which led to a Regional Appearance. DeFrance has served primarily as the catching coach at each school, but also works with all hitters and position players.
A former switch-hitting catcher, DeFrance’s playing days involved playing for one of the top private schools in the country in Seton Hall Prep from 2000-2002. After a successful junior college career for Morris County College from 2006-2007, 2007 proved to be a personal best for DeFrance earning an NJCAA All-American selection.
DeFrance has been involved in the “travel” baseball world for 10 years now and has had extreme success with owning his own organization, The New Jersey Angels, as well as having over 20 high school players in seven years since having an U-18 team go on to play in college from Junior College through Divisions I, II and III.
DeFrance will work with the Beacons catchers, and hitters this spring. He will also assist with the recruiting efforts.
