CENTERVILLE, Mass.—Senior Mike DeGrazia (Novi, Mich.) and freshman Peter MacIntyre (Norfolk, Mass.) were named the ECAC East Player of the Week and ECAC East Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday evening.
DeGrazia scored six goals and added two assists to help lead the Beacons to a 3-0 week and their fourth P.A.L. Stovepipe Classic Championship in five years. The first-line winger had his first career hat trick in Tuesday's 9-4 win over Framingham State, before finishing with three goals and an assist over the weekend.
His six goals in a single week outpaced his single season totals from each of his first three years, as DeGrazia continues to dominate, to start his final season. After leading the Beacons with 18 assists last year, the senior leads or is tied for the ECAC East high with his 10 goals, 16 points and eight points on the power play.
MacIntyre becomes the first Beacon to be named ECAC East Rookie of the Week since the 2010-11 season when Travis Daniel (North Brunswick, N.J.) earned the title several times.
The freshman scored the Beacons first hat trick of the season Tuesday with three goals in less than nine minutes in UMB's 9-4 win over Framingham State University.
He added an assist in Friday's semifinal victory over Johnson & Wales University to bring his season total to five goals and two assists. MacIntyre leads all freshman UMB skaters and is third on the team with five goals, and is tied for second on the team with two power play goals.
Each player received their respective award for the first time in their careers.
