Men’s Tennis Earns Hard Fought Win over Mt. St. Mary (NY)

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – In their toughest match of the season so far men's tennis (2-1) managed to pull out a huge win as they defeated Mt. St. Mary (N.Y.) by the final of 5-4 Star Island Resort.

After falling into a 2-1 hole after doubles play, the Beacons tied the match at 2-2 following a 6-2, 6-4 win by Charles Lai (Boston, Mass.).  The two teams would battle back and forth throughout the afternoon.  Mt. St. Mary retook control of the lead with a win at fifth singles, but right as they took over, the Beacons fired right back with three-straight wins to secure the victory.

Leading the three win rally was Seth Shavers (Boston, Mass.) with a 1-6, 6-1, 7-5 victory, Alex Loyer (Chelmsford, Mass.) who earned a 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 decision, and David Hernandez (Boston, Mass.) with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win.  Mt. St. Mary went on to earn the win at sixth singles, but by then the victory belonged to the Beacons, their second of the week.

Men's Tennis closes out their spring trip tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. as they face College of Staten Island.
