SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – in their first meet in over two weeks, the men's track and field team got in some last minute preparation as they prepare for the conference championship at the Springfield College Outdoor Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Logan Mitchell was the lone Beacon to compete in the 100-meter dash as he recorded a time of 12.10 seconds. William Hua and Eaden Marti finished with times of 24.39 and 27.04 seconds in the 200-meter dash respectively.
Christian Hodgson continued his strong freshman outdoor season as he earned a fifth place finish in the 400 with a time of 51.97 seconds. Adrian Higgins posted a team-leading time of 2:06.44 in the 800-meter run, while Cameron Chase and Anthony Lynch finished with times of 2:16.11 and 2:23.49.
Jimmy Cannon earned a top-20 finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:25.10. Xavier Hill qualified for the finals in the 110-meter hurdles and earned a third-place finish with a time of 17.59 seconds. Prosper Lubega took third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.27.
Christopher Fleurima posted a pair of top-5 finishes first in the long jump where he finished with a final distance of 20-09.25 feet to take fifth place. He then posted a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a final mark of 41-.08.75 feet.
Julian Collins led the way for UMB in the throwing events as he registered a throw of 35-06.00 feet in the shot put, 110-06 feet in the discus throw, and 144-08 feet in the hammer throw.
The Beacons will compete at the Little East Conference/New England Alliance Championship meet next Saturday at Fitchburg State University.
