4x800 Relay Sets Program Record At New England Championship

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – A total of six Beacons were in action at the two-day NCAA Division III New England Championship hosted by Williams College.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Christian Hodgson was the lone Beacon to compete in the 400-meter dash as the freshman registered a time of 50.22 seconds to finish in the 13th place.  Adrian Higgins posted the best finish for UMass Boston as he took 10th in the 400-meter hurdles with his final time of 56.95.

In the 4x400-meter relay Jonathan Hodge, Higgins, Cameron Chase, and Hodgson posted a combined time of 3:30.54 to earn a 16th place finish.  The 4x8 saw Chase, William Barrett, Prosper Lubega, and Anthony Lynch tripped the sensor with a time of 8:19.14.  The time marked a new program record shattering the old mark of 8:41.55 set in 2016. 

Mitchell finished in 12th place in the triple jump with a leap of 42-09.50 feet, while Christopher Fleurima registered a jump of 40-07.75 feet to finish in 20th place.

Julian Collins finished the regional championship with a throw of 129-10 feet.

The Beacons will compete at the NEICAAA Championship meet at Southern Connecticut State University.
