FITCHBURG, Mass. – In their first meet of the new season the cross country teams both finished in fifth place at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational hosted by Fitchburg State University Saturday afternoon.
Men's – 5th out of 7 teams
Women's – 5th out of 6 teams
HOW IT HAPPENED
For the men's team it was Cameron Chase (Lutz, Fla.) who led the way as he finished in 21st place with a time of 29:28. The women's side, saw newcomer Patriciah Mulinge (Brockton, Mass.) record a 12th place finish in her first collegiate meet. The freshman runner posted a time of 21:33.
Finishing in 28th place for the men's team was Jeffrey Noyes (Weymouth, Mass.) with a time of 29:50, while for the women's squad it was sophomore Madison Harmon (East Sandwich, Mass.) who tripped the sensor with a time of 22:47.
Maddy Scott (Westhampton, Mass.) recorded the third fastest time for the women's team with her time of 22:56. Adrianna Fredo (Brockton, Mass.) posted a time of 24:27 to finish in the top-4 for the Beacons. Rokas Piragis (Brockton, Mass.) ran a solid race for the Beacons as he finished with a time of 30:49. Freshman Terry Williams (Saint Mary's, Ga.) posted a time of 32:37 to record the fourth fastest time for the men's team.
The Beacons return to action in two weeks when they compete at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Invitational.
