CENTERVILLE, Mass.—The awards keep on coming for Olivia Murphy (Canton, Mass.), who was named the ECAC Division III New England Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year Wednesday afternoon by the ECAC Office.
The Beacons starting power-forward averaged 14.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game this season, and became the second-straight Beacon to be honored as the Little East Conference Rookie of the Year.
In addition to winning the LEC Rookie of the Week Award a program-record seven times, Murphy was also recognized as the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Rookie of the Week on two occasions.
Murphy had one of the most impressive seasons in UMass Boston program history, leading the conference in all four rebounding categories. She also finished in the top five in the LEC in scoring, steals per game and blocks per game.
For her defensive efforts, Murphy became only the second player in school history to be named to the Little East Conference All-Defensive Team, to go along with a spot on the All-Rookie Team.
The UMass Boston Tip-off Tournament and Key Largo Classic Most Valuable Player ended the year with 10 double-doubles, six games of 20 points or more and four games of 15 or more rebounds.
