PAWTUCKET, R.I.—Freshman center Shania Osborne (Fairfield, Conn.) earned her first career Little East Conference Rookie of the Week award this afternoon, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Osborne paced the Beacons with 18 points per game and added 8.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 weekend against Little East Conference foes. The Beacons recorded their first-ever home win over the University of Southern Maine on Wednesday (71-63), before rallying for a 65-59 comeback road victory over Rhode Island College.
She shot 75 percent from the field (15-20) on the week and added five blocks and one assists in 44 minutes of action.
Osborne started off the week by pouring in 17 points on 8-9 shooting and adding on eight rebounds in a career-high 27 minutes of action.
On Saturday, she recorded a career-high 19 points in 17 minutes of action. She tacked on nine rebounds and three blocks, and recorded a go-ahead three-point play with 1:17 to play.
Osborne is averaging 9.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game, while shooting 79.2 percent from the field.
The Beacons will host Dean College on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. in their final non-conference game of the season.
