Softball Heads Back To Plymouth State Looking For Repeat Success

BOSTON, Mass.—Defending Little East Conference Champion UMass Boston softball is set to head back to where it all happened a year ago. 

The Beacons will travel to D&M Park starting on Thursday morning in an effort to repeat as LEC Champions. Sixth-seeded UMass Boston will open the tournament at 10 a.m., when they face host and top-seeded Plymouth State University in the first game of the six-team tournament.

This weekend's tournament will be played as a double-elimination tournament format. The winner will claim the LEC's automatic qualifier bid and earn a spot in the 2018 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament. 

As of now, the Beacons schedule will follow one of two paths (there may be changes due to rain in the forecast): 

Game 1 - Thursday at 10 a.m. vs #1 Plymouth State University 

Game 2 will depend on if the Beacons win or lose Thursday. 

If the Beacons win game one: they will play on Friday at 10 a.m. against the loser of #3 University of Southern Maine and #4 Western Connecticut State University (played on Thursday at 2 p.m.). 

If the Beacons lose game one: they will play in the fourth game on Thursday (4:00 p.m. scheduled start), aganst the loser of #2 Eastern Connecticut State University and #5 UMass Dartmouth.
