WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—Freshman Nuha Muntasser (Braintree, Mass.) and senior Anitra Kloczewiak (Newton, Mass.) represented UMass Boston women's tennis Friday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Regional Championship at Williams College.
The Beacons duo fell 8-3 in doubles action to Babson's doubles pair of junior Alex Freeman and freshman Dina Weick. UMass Boston opened the match with a 3-2 lead, but couldn't slow the Beavers' top doubles pair momentum as the match went on.
Muntasser and Kloczewiak also competed in the 64-player singles competition, drawing a pair of extremely difficult first-round matches.
Muntasser fell 6-0, 6-0 to the number one seed in the bracket and fourth overall player in the country, Jordan Brewster of Amherst College.
Kloczewiak didn't fare any better, as the senior dropped a 6-0, 6-0 match to third-seeded Kara Shoemaker of Williams College.
The Beacons top two players will look to carry their gained experience from Friday's tournament into the weekend, as UMass Boston will bid for its first conference of the year Saturday when they travel to UMass Dartmouth at 15 1 p.m.
