Nuha Muntasser and Anitra Kloczewiak Named to Little East All-Conference Team

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.—Freshman Nuha Muntasser (Braintree, Mass.) and senior Anitra Kloczewiak (Newton, Mass.) have been named to the Little East Conference All-Conference Team, the league office announced Tuesday morning.

Muntasser was named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Beacon in program history to earn a major conference award. Kloczewiak earned First Team All-Conference honors at number two singles by going a perfect 8-0 against Little East foes.

Muntasser enjoyed a prolific freshman campaign, earning the number one singles spot out of preseason camp and dominating her opponents from day one. The freshman finished tied for third for a single-season in UMass Boston history with her 19 total victories and ended the year second on the team with 11 singles wins and eight doubles victories.

In her first season with the Beacons, Muntasser posted a 9-4 record against conference foes and clinched the Beacons first victory over Plymouth State University since 2001, to help UMass Boston secure a spot in the Little East Conference Tournament. Muntasser needed the minimum two sets to earn nine of her 11 singles wins, including closing out the campaign with four straight-set victories. She was named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week on four occassions, including the final three weeks of the regular season.

Kloczewiak picks up her second career All-Conference honors after experiencing the best season for a UMass Boston player in program-history. Already the career record-holder for doubles (36) and total victories (71) coming into the season, Kloczewiak set the single-season record for wins in a single-season (23), in addition to moving into first-place all-time for career singles wins (35).

The senior co-captain finished in second place in program history for single-season singles victories (14) and doubles victories (nine), while leading the Beacons with her 67 percent winning percentage (23-11)-the sixth-best mark in school history.

She dominated in singles play finishing 14-3, including recording eight-straight wins to close out the season. Kloczewiak also played a key role for the Beacons at number one singles, finishing 8-5 alongside co-captain Samantha Counts (Bridgewater, Mass.).
