Hieu Nguyen returns for her fourth season as an assistant coach in 2016. The former four-year player and captain will serve as an assistant coach with the women's tennis programs.
She has been a huge supporter of the program in the role as a coach and alum, helping out whenever possible since graduating in 2013. She played a pivotal role in working with the women's program in 2018.
In her four years as a women's tennis player, Nguyen compiled the sixth-most victories in program history (36), fifth-most singles wins (20), eight-most doubles victories (16) and the ninth-best winning percentage (.514). As a junior, Nguyen compiled one of the greatest season in school history, earning a spot on the Little East Conference First Team at number five singles. She finished the year with a 12-2 mark in singles play and with 19 total victories, the third-most in school history for a single-year. Nguyen closed out her career as a co-captain of the team in 2012.
Off the tennis courts, Nguyen was an active participant in the UMass Boston Athletics Department, working as a Sports Information Intern and a member of the Beacons Game Management Staff. She graduated in 2013 with her Bachelor of Science in Management.
