Women’s Track and Field Has Strong Showing At Plymouth State Winter Classic

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Led by a Lauren Olton (Stoneham, Mass.) first place finish the women's track and field team finished in fifth place out of 10 teams at the Plymouth State University Winter Classic.


Team Result – 5th out of 10 teams (58 points)


Olton set a PSU Winter Classic meet record with her jump of 5-02.25 feet in the high jump.  The jump marked a new personal best for the senior.  Olton also earned a top-10 finish in the 60-meter hurdles as she tripped the sensor with a time of 11.46 seconds. 

Olivia Burnes (Paxton, Mass.) grabbed a second place finish in the 400-meter dash with her time of 1:04.12.  Brianna Steele (Rutland, Mass.) earned a fourth place finish in the 500-meter run as the freshman crossed the finish line with a time of 1:27.28. 

In the 60-meter dash Gesheca Boswell (Kingston, Jamaica) led the way with her time of 8.78 seconds, while Nana Anane (Worcester, Mass.) finished in 18th place with a time of 8.82 seconds.  Rebecca Caley (Quincy, Mass.) collected a fifth place finish in the 800-meter run with a strong time of 2:47.74.  Patience Gbedema (Boston, Mass.) also had a second place finish with a time of 3:37.72 in the 1,000-meter run.  Patriciah Mulinge (Brockton, Mass.) earned a seventh place finish overall in the one mile run with a time of 6:03.93. 

Alanna Olton (Stoneham, Mass.) qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles and finished the heat with a time of 10.39 seconds to earn a third place finish.  The 4x200-meter relay team of Boswell, Anane, Krystal Alvarez (Framingham, Mass.), and Burnes finished with a combined time of 1:57.60 to finish in fourth.


The Beacons will return to action on January 20 when they compete at the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational in Cambridge.
