Women’s Track and Field Posts Solid Finishes at Springfield Invite

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – In their second meet in less than 24 hours, members of the women's track and field continued to produce strong finishes as they competed at the Springfield College Outdoor Classic Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the 100-meter dash Gesheca Boswell posted an eighth-place finish with a time of 13.82 to qualify for the finals in the event.  She would then post a time of 13.68 seconds in the finals to earn eighth place overall.

Krystal Alvarez and Nana Anane finished the 200-meter dash with times of 28.56 and 30.02 to take 13th and 17th place overall respectively.  In the 400, Olivia Burnes sprinted her way to a ninth-place finish with a time of 1:03.79, while Brianna Steele finished in 13th place with a time of 1:05.66.

Alanna Olton and Katie Olson had a pair of strong showings in the 100-meter hurdles.  After finishing in fourth and fifth place in the prelims, Olton registered a fourth-place finish in the finals with a time of 16.89 seconds.  Olson finished with a time of 17.16 seconds to take sixth place overall.

 Burnes would also notch a ninth-place finish in the high jump with a height of 4-07.00 feet.  Ruth Labranche led a trio of Beacons in the long jump with her final leap marked at 15-03.50 feet to take sixth place. 

Paulina Vo finished in fourth in the triple jump with a final mark of 32-01.50 feet.  Arriannah Gervais led the Beacons throwers in the shot put with a throw of 30-07.00 feet (14th).  Sophia Olton and Caroline Mullen finished in 14th and 15th place with throws of 44-03 and 42-09 feet in the javelin throw.

The Beacons will compete at the Little East Conference/New England Alliance Championship meet at Fitchburg State University next Saturday.
